Britannia Hotel Birmingham

Nice experience, the hotel is in the heart of the city, 30 second from the centre. German festival market was outside, grocery store, shopping centre, everything is close by. The staff has been very kind and helpful, very much approachable. Thanks team.

Simple process as this was a late last minute booking, greeted by a member of staff, sorted quickly and in my room within a few minutes. Room was just what I needed, clean, tidy and then shower was perfect.

I am staying in a double room in this hotel which has a comfortable double bed and a large flat screen TV. It’s the first week in September but it is cold out and the management have thoughtfully put the central heating on. The bathroom has an excellent power shower. The WiFi reception is good and best of all it’s free. The Britannia is handily located in Birmingham town centre being about 350 yards from New street Railway Station. I’m paying about £55 per night for my four day stay.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times in past 12 months. The location is ideal as you are 2 mns from New Street Station and very central with quite a few attractions such as The Natural History Museum, The Bullring, the Indoor and Outdoor markets just a short walk away. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the vicinity too. The rooms i stayed in on every occasion were clean and the Showers in the rooms are exceptional. I found all staff to be very friendly and helpful. The price of the rooms are superb value. Highly recommend this Hotel if you are looking for a decent place to stop without breaking the bank

Having read previous reviews my expectations of staying at the Britannia Hotel in Birmingham were not high. How wrong was I! The hotel is a short walk from Birmingham New Street and easy enough to find. Reception area was clean and tidy, with a welcoming member of staff who booked me in quickly as I had done the online booking process. Unfortunately one of the lifts was out of action but due to being on the second floor I decided to use the stairs; once I’d located them - better signage needed I think. I found the communal areas clean and tidy, although a little dated, but this definitely did not put me off. I found my room easily as the corridors are clearly marked with room numbers. My room was clean, tidy and warm. Nice fresh bedding, clean towels, clean bathroom and a good brew kit. I was overlooking the Main Street with the German Christmas Market on below, but the noise from this was negligible and didn’t disturb me at all. The room had all the basic necessities that I needed for my 2 night stay and it was definitely better than I expected. I will say that the mattress was not the best and you could definitely feel the springs - but strangely enough I still slept well! You can hear your next door neighbours at times but fortunately no late shenanigans that kept me awake. Good curtains that blocked out the street lights and draughty window. There was a radiator that I could control so my room was lovely and warm on both nights. All in all I had a very pleasant stay.

Don't expect a posh hotel. This is a no frills stay. But the room was clean and newly decorated. The bathroom was modern, clean and plenty of hot water. The room had a really good hairdryer, large TV, kettle and simple wardrobe. We had to turn our radiator down. The staff always appeared at the right time, including letting us in at 1am in the morning. We didn't even have to ring the bell. They let us leave our luggage until we needed to go to the station. Everything was run like clockwork. It's located at the centre of everything you'd need access to. You can walk everywhere. So although very plain this is why I give it a 5 Star.

I mean, it's nothing special but it likely was in it's day. Odd smell in the lift lobby and a different odd smell when you get out at your floor. Room did not have any odd smell. Bathroom was very nice, TV is a bloody good size. The room itself is serviceable but not movie star quality. But hey, I'm only needing somewhere to sleep and wash up and it does those jobs as well as it can. Front desk staff were lovely. Place right in the city centre.
